Simple Note is provided by the developer identified in its Google Play store listing ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Simple Note mobile application (the "App").
1. Privacy at a glance
The App is designed to work offline. We do not operate a server for the App, and the App does not send us your notes or other personal information.
- No account or sign-in is required.
- No advertising or behavioral tracking is used.
- No analytics or third-party crash-reporting SDK is included.
- Your notes and preferences are stored locally on your device.
2. Information processed on your device
The App processes the following information only on your device so that its features can work:
- Content you create, including note titles, note text, folder names, tags, pinned and favorite status, and creation or modification timestamps.
- App preferences, including your selected theme and text size.
This information is stored in the App's private local storage. We do not receive or remotely access it.
3. Information we do not collect
The App does not collect or transmit your name, email address, phone number, account credentials, contacts, precise location, photos, files, advertising identifier, device identifier, browsing activity, or App content.
The App does not use cookies, analytics services, advertising services, tracking technologies, or third-party crash-reporting services.
4. How information is used
Locally stored information is used only to provide the features you request, such as creating and editing notes, organizing notes with folders and tags, searching, and remembering your display preferences.
5. Sharing, selling, and disclosure
We do not receive your information, so we do not sell, rent, share, or disclose it to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties. The App does not contain third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
6. Device and cloud backups
Your operating system may include the App's local data in a device or cloud backup if backup is enabled on your device. These backups are created and controlled by your device or platform provider, such as Google or Apple, under that provider's terms and privacy policy. We cannot access those backups. You can manage backup settings in your device or account settings.
Your device and app store provider may also independently process basic installation, device, and diagnostic information under its own privacy policy. This processing is provided by the platform and is not performed by the App.
7. Data retention and deletion
Notes, folders, and tags remain on your device until you delete them, use "Clear all data" in Settings, clear the App's storage through your device settings, or uninstall the App. Theme and text-size preferences remain until you clear the App's storage or uninstall the App.
Copies already included in a device or cloud backup may remain until removed according to your platform provider's backup settings and retention practices.
Because we never receive your local data, we cannot retrieve or delete it for you. You control it directly on your device.
8. Security
The App stores its data within the application storage provided by your operating system. Keeping your device software updated and using a device passcode or biometric lock can help protect your information. No storage method is completely secure, and anyone with access to your unlocked device may be able to access the App.
9. App permissions
The App does not request access to sensitive device features such as your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or location. The production Android App does not request the Internet permission.
10. Children's privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The App does not require an account and does not transmit user-created content to us. A parent or guardian can remove locally stored content using the deletion options described above.
11. International data transfers
We do not transfer your App content or personal information to our servers or across borders. A platform backup provider may process backups in other locations under its own privacy policy.
12. Your choices and rights
You can view, edit, and delete your content in the App at any time. You can delete all notes, folders, and tags from Settings, manage platform backups through your device, or uninstall the App. Since we do not possess your data, privacy requests concerning App content can be completed directly through these on-device controls.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the App's features or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be made available in the App, and the "Last updated" date will be changed. If a future App version collects or transmits information, this policy and the relevant in-App disclosures will be updated before that processing begins.
